Response Cards
ApparatusEach student must have a clear writing surface, such as a dry erase board, dry erase pen, and an eraser.
I will generate test items or questions for each chunk of instructional material. I will also "wing it" and present items once I have presented small pieces of the topic or content area. How It Works:This method is effective in engaging students in the instructional content via a written or oral presentation.
It can be use in areas such as math, oral reading, language arts, science, spelling, and social studies. It is an effective instructional tool as well as a system to increase students' attention to orally presented instruction or reading assignments done in class. |
Brief DESCRIPTIONThe "response card" technique enables the teacher to present oral instruction or seat-work assignments for short periods of time and then check students' knowledge of the content.
The teacher presents a certain amount of material then poses a series of questions to all the students. The students respond by writing two-to three-word answers on their dry erase boards and presenting their answers upon a signal to show their work. The teacher surveys all the answers, picking up which students may be unclear about the material or readings. Procedures:
